More than 11 squares attended a Paul Place Memorial Dance on May 2, 2009 hosted by the Dixie Squares in Daytona Beach, Florida. Host caller John Swindle opened the dance with “God Bless the USA” and the pledge of allegiance as Paul had always done. Admission to the dance was by donation. WICHITA NATIONAL SQUAREDANCE CONVENTION

The 57th Annual National Square Dance Convention was held on June 25,26, and 27 in Wichita, Kansas. The Kansas Square Dancers mounted a bid four years ago to hold the convention this year.
